Can I pay only for one class before committing to the whole course?

As the majority of courses are oversubscribed, all courses must be paid for in full before the first lesson.

However, if you would like to join us at Pineapple studios to watch a class you’re more than welcome. If you’re not ready to commit to a 12-week course why not take a look at the short courses or workshops on offer. You do not need to be a member of Pineapple Dance Studios to observe or book a course with Michael.

Can I get a discount if I miss some classes?

The course fee is fixed regardless of how many classes you are able to attend. To ensure that you are able to follow the program and ballroom techniques taught, please make sure you can attend at least 70% of the course.

Can I pay for the course when I arrive for the first class?

All courses must be booked and paid for in advance.

What is the cancelation policy for group classes?

Course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to other courses or classes. Please make sure you can definitely attend most of the sessions to get the most out of the course before signing up.

Can I sign up by myself?

Absolutely! Individuals are welcome at all courses and workshops, but equal numbers of men and women cannot be guaranteed.

Will I dance only with the partner I have signed up with?

Most of the time, yes. But variety is key to mastering the art of ballroom dancing! During the class you will be asked to switch partners in order to experience dancing the steps you’ve learnt with other people. During the re-cap classes you’ll usually be swapping partners more often. Of course you don’t need a partner to sign up for any of Michael’s courses, individuals are always welcome.

What is the dress code for the classes?

There is no dress code, but smart-casual comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. You’re welcome to wear dance shoes, but shoes with rubber soles or soft shoes like trainers are not recommended as they can restrict the flow of your movement and make learning the steps more challenging. For more advice on choosing the best Ballroom and Latin shoes, take a look at Michael’s expert video blog below:

Can I record the class?

To protect the privacy of other participants, recording the class is not allowed. However, Michael provides an authorised recording of the class for some of the courses in the member’s area for students to watch and remind themselves of the steps.

What can I do to memorise the steps from the class better?

Michael has plenty of expert dance tips and techniques you can use to help memorise the steps. Authorised recordings of dance classes are posted in the member’s area for students to watch and remind themselves of the steps. You can discover more tips in Michael’s video blog below.
